7 day trail ride along beautiful deserted Atlantic ocean beaches, visiting fishing villas and traditional estancias (farms)

7-day vacation staying the first 4 nights at an Estancia Gaucha, riding at the estancia´s trails, meeting gauchos and doing rural activities. The rest 3 days riding accross oceanic beaches visiting fishing villas staying at comfortable inns.

Fast paced riding along firm, sandy Atlantic beaches, and across the inland grasslands and wetlands. The days are varied, ranging from rides through enormous sand-dunes to dense palm groves. We pass inland lakes teeming with wildfowl and visit old Portuguese forts. We enjoy traditional asados (barbeques). Wildlife viewing can be spectacular, with dolphins feeding in the beautiful bays, occasional glimpses of whales, noisy sea lion colonies, black necked swans gliding across the lagoons, chattering parrots flying overhead and capybara, the world´s largest rodent (but very cute!). We are accompanied by friendly locals and charming and skilled gauchos who share their unique lifestyle with us, as we learn more of the fascinating history of the country including the stories of battles and shipwrecks along this beautiful coastline.

Come along on a gaucho ride in one of South America’s more colourful countries, Uruguay.
Typical riding day: You will be riding the criollo horses of the real gauchos of the Timote grassland area.
We will help out in any work there is to do. Following trails that only gauchos know and visiting places
tourists never visit, will lead us not only through the country’s hinterlands but also into the lifestyle of the
people who forged its identity.
I will tell you the history of San Pedro de Timote, an old farm where I was born and learned to ride.
