This riding safari incorporates the best of South Africa's wilderness, big game and horse ranches. Featuring Triple B Ranch situated in the heart of the Waterberg Plateau in the Waterberg Mountains, this is a wilderness area of outstanding natural beauty, with breathtaking vistas, mountain gorges and wildlife.
The ranch has been home to the Baber family for three generations and has bred cattle since the first settlers trekked into the area at the end of the nineteenth century. The ranch now holds over 2000 head of Bosmara cattle, a hardy African breed suited to the harsh conditions. The ranch also operates its own private game reserve and grows crops such as maize, tobacco and peanuts.
The area lends itself to some superb riding opportunities - the going is easy as the horses run unshod on perfect sandy soil, and though in places the bush is thick, much of the country is open and flat, lending itself to extended canters. |

The Ultimate Horse Safari for those with a sense of adventure!
Steven Rufus (owner and operator) left Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris, in September 2004, after establishing it as one of the top riding safaris in Africa. Steven has over 10 years experience in the industry and has ensured that his new safaris contain lots more of the exciting elements that made the previous company a top attraction. He is one of the very few fully qualified guides in SA, and is licensed by the government to operate with guests in Dangerous Game country. This is a new legislation in all SADC countries and we are proud that we are already registered and qualified for this requirement.
The new Wilderness Ride is based in Songimvelo Game Park, with unbelievable views, stunning mountain ranges, beautiful rivers, 15 species of large mammals, and lots of opportunity to see the Big Four. One of the most advantageous elements to this reserve is that there are no lion present, which allows us to explore deep in to the reserve safely. Evenings are spent in a comfortable, rustic fly camp, eating professionally catered meals and recounting the day’s events by the open fire.
Songimvelo is based on the borders of Swaziland. Just a short 3 hours transfer from Johannesburg and only one and half hours to Kruger Park, allowing our guests to extend their holidays and spend time in this world famous park.
We have also included some African culture, with the last night of our Wilderness Safaris being accommodated at a local Swazi Village, sleeping in traditional Rondavels and sampling the wonderful cuisine offered by the community. This has proved one of the highlights of the week, as it allows the guests to experience a time-honoured society after riding through the lands that they have occupied for hundreds of years.
We operate from a luxury lodge that can cater for all horse riding abilities, as well as non-riding partners / friends etc, and then we have our Wilderness Safaris in Songimvelo – leaving at scheduled dates throughout the year |
