Our farm, Campo Antilco is located 12 kilometers from Pucón, on the banks of the Liucura River, on the foothills of “cerros de Quelhue” mountain range. Here we live all year round, farming and taking care of our 17 horses. Starting from here you’ll explore with us the surrounding valleys and Villarrica and Huerquehue National Park on our horse trekking trips.

Pucón is a nice little town in the northern part of the southern Chilean Lake District, located between 2 large (Villarrica and Caburgua) lakes and many smaller lakes, on the foothills of the active Villarrica volcano and surrounded by 2 national parks (Villarrica NP and Huerquehue) and 2 forest reserves (Cañi/Cerros de Quelhue). A place with a well developed tourist infrastructure, but still only 20 minutes from untouched native rainforests
On the trail you are accompanied by a Chilean arriero (as the Chilean cowboys are called) and an English and Spanish speaking guide. We sleep in tents, all our luggage we take with us on the horses. Cooking, putting up the tents etc., will be done together by the group. Everyone should as he or she can, take care of their horses.
The Ride leads us past the little settlement of Carhuello, crossing the sandy beach of Lake Caburgua to the valleys in and around National Park Huerquehue. We’ll be riding through dense Native forests and crossing the passes there are breathtaking views of the Andean mountain ranges and the snow covered Volcanoes. Other highlights are bathing in the natural hot spring of “Rio Blanco” as well as camping right in the native forest nearby a mountain lake surrounded by huge monkey puzzle trees.
We’ll be about 4-7 hours in the saddle each day.

1. day: After arrival at the camp, we get to know the horses and will practice handling horses and tack.
In the afternoon, after we have lunch, we go out for a ride, and choose which of the horses we will take with us
2. day: After a hearty breakfast we saddle the horses and off we go. This is going to be the longest of our riding days. We ride from our camp up to Renahue valley, formerly a settled valley within Huerquehue national park. The path leads through the settlement of Carhuello, going up the road to Lake Caburgua and then follows the lakeshore, where we stop for a swim, riding on the beach, road and paths, until we reach our first campground in Renahue.
3. day: Today’s ride leads us through farmland and virgin rainforest, passing by huge araucaria (monkey puzzle) trees. Riding up the valley, about at noon we cross the pass of Renahue, from than on descending towards the Rio Blanco valley were we put up our tents nearby the natural hot springs of "Termas Rio Blanco"..
4.day: A short, but demanding trail is waiting for us on 4th day. After riding for about 2 hours up the Rio Blanco valley we reach a logging camp. From now on the path winds between dense bamboo vegetation and among huge coigue trees to a lonely lake, Laguna Isolda. Some steep cuts and numerous creeks to cross, sometimes make the pass adventurous. We set up our camp in a small clearing right in the rainforest, a short walk from the lake, which we will pass by on...
..5. day: We start the day with a ride through an ancient forest, again passing huge, up to 50m high coighue trees and araucarias (monkey puzzle trees), the prehistoric giants of the northern Patagonian rainforest.
As soon as we descent towards the next valley, we reach habited land again. Riding on country trails with breathtaking views over "Sierra Nevada de Sollipulli" we reach again "Termas Rio Blanco", were we enjoy the natural hot pool for a second time at our camp for the day.
6. Day: In the morning we ride down the Rio Blanco River until we reach it's delta at Lake Caburgua. From now on we follow the lakeshore till we reach our last campsite, on a high plane pasture of an abandoned farm, overlooking the lake.
7. Day: On the last day we follow the lakeshore, thus reaching Caburgua beach again, riding back to the farm on the country road we left 5 days ago. A short detour allows us to visit "Ojos de Caburgua" an impressive huge spring with some beautiful waterfalls. Back on the farm a hot shower, a cold beer and a tasty BBQ are waiting for us to celebrate the last day of a great horse back adventure. Afterwards we drive you to town or you can stay another night at the farm.
We provide:
• 7Days/6 nights
• Full board, excluding alcoholic drinks
• Bilingual guide
• Transport from/to Pucón
• Tents

Our travel in Chile is designed for travellers who are seeking a holiday with plenty of outdoor activity. Horseback riding here is like living the odyssey of the Spanish conquistadors from almost 500 years ago. The rides use passes and landscapes where everything including the flora and fauna remain the same. Inhabited only by silent animals such as condors and pumas (mountain lion). The vegetation gets sparser the higher you ascend, finally reaching green summer pastures full of wild flowers and sparkling streams. There is no other way but horseback riding to travel here. The guides for these trips are Arrieros, cowboys who run cattle herds over the Andes. They have learned the routes from their fathers and grandfathers before them. A musician usually travels with us .
The Central Andes on horseback trips last from 1 to 12 days. On longer horseback rides we camp in the mountains in well prepared campsites and spend the evening around the fire. This is the perfect trip for those who enjoy outdoor recreation and soft adventure, or for family vacations. No previous experience in riding or rides is needed.
