Beautiful, friendly, and comfortable, Banana Bank Lodge is located in the stunning and fascinating jungle outside of Belmopan, Belize. We keep over 120 head of well kept and much loved primary mixed breed quarter horses. This combination provides sturdy mounts neccessary to negotiate river terrain and jungle trails. We have a stable with 24 stalls, a four rail 60' state of the art round pen, a two rail 200' x 100' arena to safely put the horses through their paces, and a historic ranch house with a long, fascinating history from the mahogany logging days. Accomodations are a choice of three types-thatched roof cabanas of exquisite crafstmenship, lodge rooms with air conditioning, or the River View ranch house.

Belizean horses are relatively small, but they are hardy and surefooted in the rocks and mud of the hillsides.

Visitors have the opportunity to explore the district on horseback through numerous half- or full-day trips offered by guides and resort operators. Some trips include specific destinations as focal points of the tours, while others are geared toward a simple pleasurable ride through the Cayo countryside.

HOURLY RIDES
Finca Trail ¡V A leisurely and gentle ride around the farmland and surrounding areas. Approx 1 hr.
Gibnut Trail ¡V A more adventurous ride across streams, up hills and through jungle trails. Approx 2 hrs.
Adventurer¡¦s Trail ¡V Traverse a variety of trails for our most adventurous ride yet! Dismount and trek through the jungle to explore limestone formations where Maya pottery was discovered. Approx 3 hrs.
Orchard Pass ¡V Long alleyways through orchards are perfect for lazy walks or exciting canters. Approx 1.5 hrs.

DAY RIDES
Sibun River Day Ride ¡V Ride through the orchards and into the Hershey Cocoa fields. Nice long alleys encourage cantering for our more experienced riders. Novice riders take it nice and easy! Stop for a deli lunch at the Sibun River before heading back to the Ranch.
Hidden Valley Day Ride ¡V Head up the mountain and through the jungle to a unique limestone formation where remnants of the ancient Maya civilization were discovered. Trek across the valley toward the Sibun River for relaxation and refreshments. Cool off in the Sibun before heading back to the Ranch.

OVERNIGHT RIDES
Overnight Equestrian Camping ¡V The ultimate equestrian experience for the adventurous and our favorite ride! Travel an easy 8mls by horseback to Camp One then dismount and trek up the mountains to Camp Two. Sit right at the base of a breath-taking and amazing waterfall. Take in the jungle sounds and a hearty cowboy dinner. Wake up to the birds and a last visit to the falls before breaking camp and heading out.
